If you ever find yourself looking for things to do in or around Cambridge then you should definitely pay us a visit here at The Millworks restaurant, but we aren’t the only reason to head to this incredible historic city. Here are just a small selection of lovely things to do around Cambridge on a day out:
CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY BOTANIC GARDEN
The Cambridge University Botanic Garden (CUBG) holds a collection of over 8,000 plant species from all over the world to facilitate teaching and research. The Garden provides resources including plant material, horticultural expertise and facilities to research workers and lecturers. Since its foundation, however, the Garden has also provided a beautiful place for everybody to enjoy and benefit from – a series of wonderful landscapes through which to discover the drama of plant diversity.
Lammas Land is just over the road from Millworks and is a wonderful city park featuring a tennis court, a summer wading pool, and large areas of mown grass which are ideal for picnics and sun bathing. The play area is part of a much larger open space so you could walk on to Coe Fen and across to the river which is busy in summer with punts, or walk in the more peaceful Paradise Nature Reserve.
THE MILL POND
The Mill Pond is one of the most picturesque places in Cambridge. This is where the River Cam splits, meandering around a meadow at the back of Queen’s College and forming a pool beside the Silver Street bridge. From there the river flows on under the bridge, and in the other direction through the Backs, passing alongside many of the Cambridge colleges.
CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB (CURUFC)
The Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club, sometimes abbreviated “CURUFC”, is the rugby union club of the University of Cambridge. . The Club is made up of both mens and womens teams and has a great tradition of touring, with different squads touring South Africa, Scotland and the USA in recent years.
